I’m not crying, you’re crying.

The contemplation of aging has been on my mind lately.

Not in a "oh, I'm going to die soon" way, but more in a "I want to be healthy and independent until my final breath" way.

This holds immense significance for me, driven by two pivotal reasons: Mum and Dad.

My cute but fierce mother battled severe rheumatoid arthritis for a significant part of her life. As a child, I vividly recall aiding her with tasks like cutting toenails, helping her with socks and shoes, and brushing her hair—simple things she couldn't do herself due to her condition.

Despite her challenges, my resilient mother clung to her independence. However, a series of surgeries to replace deteriorated joints and subsequent strokes robbed her of mobility. Then during recovery from yet another surgery, unforeseen health complications led to her life being cut short at the age of 60.

But the story doesn't finish there.

Fast forward three years, almost to the day, and I lost my dad to a heart attack.

Having emerged from the darkness of losing his best friend and wife of 40 years, he had begun a new chapter - entering a new relationship and gearing up to fulfill his dream of touring New Zealand on a motorbike. The call I received about his passing is etched in my memory with painful clarity.

In the years which followed, as I delved into the wellness space, I couldn't help but think how knowing then what I know now could have altered Dad's course.

Yet, in a moment of humour, I snap back to reality, acknowledging that the stubborn old man wouldn't have listened to me anyway 😅.

And while the premature loss of my parents was devastating and shaped me profoundly, over the years I've found gratitude for the positive changes it caused me to make to my life.

It ultimately led me to study health & wellness and ultimately gave me the opportunity to assist you and those you care about!

It's too late for me to help my parents but its not too late for me to help you.

The link between 💩 sleep and chronic disease is strong and clear ... and it is NEVER TO LATE to start working on your health.
